The Weight of the Crown

Today’s tarot pull was the Crown, and I truly felt the pressure of responsibility resting on me from the moment my feet hit the floor. There are days when everything moves at a steady pace, and then there are days like this—where the list is long, the expectations are heavy, and all you can do is keep moving forward.

The morning began in full swing. I fixed five bowls of cereal and five cups before getting everyone but the puppies outside for their morning routine. The boys woke up soon after and settled in with the girls to watch TV while we took the puppies out to potty. Once breakfast was done, we put on the kids’ school videos while Charlie and Dameion got to work hooking up the trailer so it could head out to the scrap yard.

School went smoothly today. We worked through their nature journal books and the accompanying videos, then shifted into our religious studies using the fall equinox packet. By the time we wrapped that up, everyone was ready for lunch. Once their bellies were full, the entire group headed off for nap time.

During nap, our appointment happened. The lady who came out arrived an hour early, but thankfully she was polite and patient. After looking around and seeing firsthand that there is food, safety, and stability here for Shelly and her boys, she closed out the case. I’m still frustrated the school made that call after we pulled him, but deep down, I knew they would. At least now the situation is formally resolved and behind us.

When the kids woke up, we moved into our afternoon activities with a paper whale shark dissection and some tracing pages. The day rounded off with dinner, bedtime routines, and a little bit of playtime for the puppies. After the kids were tucked in, we let Cain have his time to run and release some energy.
Now, with the house finally quiet, it’s my turn to rest. The Crown reminded me today that responsibility is heavy, but it’s also something I can carry. And even on the tiring days, we keep moving—one task, one lesson, one moment at a time.
