Holding On Through the Distraction

Today I drew the Watch, and it couldn’t have been more fitting. Time was running thin in every direction—and so was my patience. The girls went down to Mom’s for the morning while Charlie and I stayed home to tackle more of the house. I was already mentally frayed from dealing with another issue, so the quiet was needed.
While the girls were gone, Charlie and I finally got a shower. I sprayed the kitchen for bugs and then moved into the back walkway and laundry room to start organizing. Shelly arrived to help get everything ready for the boys to stay there tonight, and not long after that, Dameion got back from picking up the girls at Mom’s. Charlie shifted outside to work on firewood, and Dameion headed out again to gather scrap.
When the girls got home, they went down for a short nap while I kept working around the house. Today was definitely slower than yesterday, and mentally I felt scattered and stretched thin.
After nap, the girls ate and relaxed with a little TV before bedtime. Shortly after I got them tucked in, the boys came in for their first official night moved in—though not in the camper yet. Tonight was a sleepover so Shelly could finish setting up the beds out there.
The kids watched a couple of movies before drifting off. Charlie and I spent the rest of the evening sitting together and unwinding. Even with my mind running everywhere, I managed to breathe a little easier. Tomorrow is a new day.
