It’s been a little while since I last shared an update here, and before I dive back into the daily rhythm of posts, I wanted to take a moment to catch everyone up on what’s been happening around the farm.

The end of August brought a rough patch for us. I came down with something that’s been affecting my stomach — we still don’t have answers yet, but this month is packed with appointments and tests as my doctor and a few new specialists work to get to the bottom of it. It’s been a challenge, but I’m holding onto hope and trying to listen to my body as much as I can.

Just a week after I got sick, Charlie had to go in for his reversal surgery. Thankfully, he did get reversed successfully, though it wasn’t without some complications. A small bleed in his intestine made things touch-and-go for about 24 hours, but his amazing surgical team caught it quickly and repaired it. He’s now back home and easing back into work. While he can’t quite do everything he could before his emergency ostomy surgery, we’re taking it one step at a time — and there’s real hope that he’ll be back to full strength eventually.

On a more somber note, we’ve had to pause our weekends with Lily temporarily. It’s not something I can share details about just yet, but our hearts are heavy, and we miss her deeply.

In true farm fashion, life didn’t slow down while all of this was happening. We’ve taken in two new puppies — both full of energy, chaos, and charm — and we’re deep in the trenches of training them. Let’s just say… they’re keeping us on our toes.

And because we apparently don’t know how to sit still, we’ve also opened our space to a friend and her family. They’ll be moving into a small camper we purchased for them, and we’re in the middle of remodeling it now to get it ready before the cold weather really settles in.

It’s been a season of changes, challenges, and quiet strength. I’m hoping to get back to my regular blog rhythm soon — sharing the little moments, daily reflections, and farm happenings that remind me how much beauty there is even in the mess.

Thank you all for your patience and love as we find our footing again. 🌾💛
