An Off Day on the Farm

Today was one of those off days. I woke up at 4 a.m. like usual, but everything felt slower, heavier. The day after Lily leaves always hits harder—three kids in the house is a whirlwind, and the quiet that follows leaves me drained.

I eased into my normal routine, taking my time with the little things and checking off the non-cleaning chores from my list. My tarot pull this morning was The Lock—a reminder, once again, that I need to make sure the farm has its own security blanket. It felt fitting.

The starter got fed, the turtle too, while Dameion handled the bigger animal chores. The girls spent the day with Mom and Dad, and when they got home they played until bedtime, laughter filling the house even though I could barely keep up.

In the middle of it all, we got a call to help a neighbor. Another neighbor had let loose a set of pigs, and they needed a place to stay until we could figure out what to do with them. So, even in the middle of exhaustion, the farm grew by a few uninvited guests today.

Not much else got done, and that’s okay. Some days the most important thing you can do is simply show up, even if it’s slower, even if it’s smaller.
