A Heartfelt Reminder

Today’s card was the Heart — a gentle nudge to move through the day with care and intention.

The morning began in a rush of waffles and laughter, with the last of the sausage patties split among the kids. While Dameion and Charlie handled the dog walks, the little ones settled in to eat and listen to their school books.

Before lunch, we wrapped up our nature study packet on mushrooms, bringing in a fresh turkey tail mushroom from our “shroomy logs” for hands-on learning. The kids loved every moment. After that, they tackled mini fishing puzzles with focus and excitement before lunch and nap time — their very first nap in the camper, which they were thrilled about! Meanwhile, Charlie and Dameion spent the morning prepping a load of scrap.

During nap time, I caught up on cleaning and animal care, soaking in the rare quiet. Once nap was over, we dove back into school with math from our shark packet, tracing, and number games filled with addition, subtraction, and multiplication practice. Dinner came quickly, and afterward, we rounded out the day with a “count by 7” puzzle and crafting felt fall trees.

By evening, Charlie and Dameion had wood cut to keep us warm through the next night or two. With the kids tucked away in their resting spots, I straightened the house, folded more clothes, and finally let the calm of the night settle in.
