A Chill in the Air and Change on the Horizon 🌧️🍂

With the weather turning colder, my sleep schedule has shifted right along with the season. I’ve never done well in the chill, so I slept in until around seven before finally pulling myself out of bed to start the day.
As always, I began with my tarot reading. Today’s card was The Door — a promise of new opportunities waiting just beyond the threshold. I could feel it in my bones, like something good is coming, quietly forming in the background.
Once the morning started rolling, Charlie and I got the bed put away and jumped straight into dog chores. Charlie took Harley, Caino, and Ali. I walked Bingo. Dameion handled Freya and Lu, and Shelly took the puppies out to potty. The girls had already eaten breakfast and started in on their schoolwork by the time we finished up.
By lunch, the house was humming with activity. Charlie and Dameion were outside working on camper repairs and gathering firewood, while I caught up on housework and cleaning. The girls went down for naps, giving us a little quiet time to focus. I used that window to reorganize the school cubby — yesterday, we officially pulled Shelly’s boys from public school, and they will be joining our homeschool routine.

By early afternoon, the sky was thick with clouds and the rain started moving in. Dameion and I rushed through walking the dogs while Charlie brought up some mason jars from the storage camper so I can start preparing this winter’s medicines. He also made a trip down to Mom and Dad’s to grab the vent fan we’ve been meaning to install in the back entryway — perfect timing for a rainy day project.
Once all eight dogs were walked and settled, we let the puppies out for some much-needed playtime. Harley had to wear her muzzle for a bit; she’s still adjusting to sharing her space with the little ones. We’re all learning to find balance, one day at a time.

By the end of nap time, the rain was clearing and the evening rhythm picked up again. Charlie and I worked together to get dinner in the oven before he went to help Dameion finish installing the vent fan — as always, nothing goes quite as planned, but they make it work.
When the skies finally cleared, Dameion headed back outside to the camper, and Charlie returned to splitting wood. Dinner was ready around five. The girls got their plates, though Sephy wasn’t much in the mood to eat and Aria only made it through half of hers. Afterward, it was back to schoolwork for them while Franklin took four of the dogs for their evening walk.

By bedtime, the house was once again full of life — puppies chasing each other through the living room, the soft hum of the rock tumbler in the kitchen, and the comforting sense that, despite the chaos, everything is falling into place. Dameion left to spend the night at Shelly’s to help her pack and make the move a little bit easier.
A long day, a cold day — but a good one. And as I look back, I can’t help but feel that The Door card was right. Change is already here; we’re just stepping into it. 🍂✨
